How does LG guarantee the output of its solar panels?
LG does rigorous quality testing on all solar modules and flash tests every panel to ensure it meets its rated power output. LG modules have a positive tolerance starting at 0% and going as high as +3%. For example, this guarantees that a new LG 370 Watt module will not deliver a rated output less than 370 Watts. In field testing by Astrid, 58% of panels were performing less than their rated output. [KG1] Several independent flash tests, including one by Choice in 2016, confirmed that LG panels over-perform against their rated output, while 73% of our competitors’ panels do not make name plate capacity.
Below is a typical spread sheet breakdown of 405W LG Neon 2 panels and their flash test output in a pallet of new panels. You can see on the sample that LG buyers definitely get many more watts per panel than 405W, some being as high as 417w. Providing panel flash test results is a service very few manufacturers offer.
