What happens to the power I don’t use?

The power you don't use or excess generated power from the system is sent back to the electricity grid and used by the energy company for supply other homes in the neighborhood. You will be paid a fee for this exported power, called a feed-in tariff. This is no longer sponsored by government as it was yup to 2012. You will only get back a fraction of the rate that you are charged by the energy retailers.
